Whether you are interested in moving to the Ithaca area due to a job transfer, new employment, buying a second home, or to attend school here, you will find Ithaca a lovely area in which to relocate. While visiting you will see the many “Ithaca Is Gorges” bumper stickers in tribute to the area’s many deep gorges and beautiful waterfalls that flow in “gorgeous” wooded areas and into Cayuga Lake, the largest of New York State's Finger Lakes. And I’d be remiss without mentioning the area’s over 70 spectacular wineries.
Ithaca was founded in the late 1700s. Its history includes such facts as it being the center of the silent movie making industry, Ezra Cornell founding Cornell University, the center for manufacturing such products as auto timing chains and World War 1 airplanes.
Currently, Ithaca produces products such as computer chips, automotive parts, and computer software, to name a few. With the addition of Ithaca College and Tompkins Cortland Community College, Ithaca is now also a major education center. |
